Rotary clubs all around the world have worked hard through out the years to help make this world a better place. This on going goal is being accomplished through the efforts of club members volunteering their time to fundraise and organize projects to benefit communities and larger international causes. If you ask most Rotarians what they enjoy most about their participation in the club, they will tell you that they like the fellowship, the opportunity to give something back to the community and of course Monday night at the bingo hall.

An important project that Rotary has is the International Student Exchange Program. This program allows students to travel and live in a foreign country for a year, an opportunity that will richen a person for life. At the international level Rotary has many other valuable projects such as the Polio Plus Campaign, a goal to vaccinate the world against polio and this project is almost complete. Rotary sponsored the largest barbecue in the world when they sent Heifers to Haiti. Rotary also built a Windmill near Granada and fell victim to target practice of the U.S. Air Forces. Money is also sent for international emergency relief efforts such as the Indian Earthquake Relief and many others.

On the local front Rotary also sponsors Easter Seals, the United Way of Ajax/Pickering, the Salvation Army, High School Bursaries, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Ajax Public Library, the Durham Regional Police and the list goes on and on. A few projects that our club is very proud of are our commitment to raise $500,000.00 for the Ajax/Pickering Hospital (now the Rouge Valley Health System) and our on going commitment to Rotary Park.

We have some real fun events such as the Home Week Pancake Breakfast, the Canada Day Barbecue, the Christmas Ham Sale and Music In The Park.

All in all, we get a lot of good done and we enjoy it. Life doesn't get much better!
