Rotary International is the association of Rotary Clubs throughout the world. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The world's first Service Club, Rotary, began with the formation of the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A, on February 23, 1905. Paul Harris and three of his business friends in Chicago started this first Rotary Club.

When President Emeritus Paul Harris passed away on January 27, 1947, his dream had grown from an informal meeting of four, to some 6,000 clubs brought together through the fellowship of Rotary. Today, there are over 1.2 million Rotarians, men and women gathered  in over 31,000 Rotary Clubs, co-ordinated in 530 Districts, affecting 167 countries round the world.
